Recently, we tested a 2024 Ford Mondeo key addition using KEYDIY KD-X4 together with a KD smart key. The operation requires reading anti-theft data directly from the BCM module before performing key programming inside the vehicle.
For locksmith workshops handling Ford AKL and key adding jobs, this workflow is becoming increasingly important.
BCM Data Reading Preparation
The BCM module is located under the front passenger seat and must be removed before reading immobilizer data.

After connecting the programming wires according to the wiring diagram, the KD-X4 Locksmith’s Universal Tool is connected to a mobile phone through the OTG cable.

Inside the KEYDIY APP, select: IMMO → Ford → Chip Type 1053

The software provides the corresponding wiring diagram and important connection notes.
One critical detail during this operation:
A 100Ω resistor must be connected between the yellow point and red solder point before reading data.
If communication still fails, an additional 1Ω resistor may be required at the pink solder point.

These small details are often the reason why Ford BCM data reading fails.
Reading Ford BCM Anti-Theft Data
Once the wiring is stable, the BCM anti-theft file can be read successfully through KD-X4.

This file is required whether performing:
- Key addition
- All keys lost programming
- Ford immobilizer recovery
After reading, save the file before continuing to vehicle programming.
Ford Key Addition Process
Back inside the vehicle, connect the OBD cable and enter the corresponding Ford key programming menu.
Load the previously saved BCM anti-theft data file.

The original key and generated KD smart key are then used for the learning process.
The new key must be placed inside the vehicle induction area, usually located inside the center armrest storage box.

Once communication is successful:
- Hazard lights flash
- Key count increases
- Key learning completes successfully

The vehicle can then be started normally using the new KD key.
Using KEYDIY KDX4 allows locksmiths to:
- Read BCM immobilizer data
- Perform key addition safely
- Support newer Ford models
- Handle advanced IMMO programming jobs
For workshops already using KD remotes and KEYDIY tools, this method provides a practical Ford solution.
